KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE

Another Easter crafting project you can enjoy making with your little ones is
“Nesting Hens and Eggs.”

Here are the items you’ll need:

Peeps® Chicks
Marshmallow Creme
Dry Chow Mein Noodles
Malted Milk Egg Candy

Start by adding 1/2 of the container of Marshmallow Creme  and 3/4 of the bag of Chow Mein Noodles to a large bowl.  Gently stir until combined.

Get ready!  This may get a bit messy, but the kids will love it!

Grab a hand full of the mixture and place it onto some wax paper or a greased cookie sheet.  Then press into the shape of a bird’s nest.  Continue this process, until all mixture has been used.  Depending on their sizes, you should yield 6-8 nests.

Helpful Hint:  I learned that using entire container of Marshmallow Creme may completely cover the brown, nest-like color of the noodles.  If this happens to you, simply top each nest with the remaining unused noodles and press gently to adhere.  I think this add a bit of dimension.

For the finishing touches, spread a small dollop of marshmallow creme to the bottom of a Peeps® Chick and carefully place one on top of each nest.  Then, do the same with the Egg Candy, strategically placing a few close to the little hens.  That’s it!  So adorable!

I found such joy in crafting these little hens and eggs sitting on their nests.  They reminded me of a song that I sang and hummed (the lyrics that I did’t know), while we worked.

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us every day, it will brighten all the way
If we keep on the sunny side of life

These uplifting lyrics are from a Christian hymn written by Ada Blenkhorn in 1899.  It was a song inspired by her nephew who always wanted his wheelchair pushed down the “sunny side” of the street.

What an awesome reminder during the Easter season, that even in midst of challenging situations, to look for the bright side!

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus!
Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything
to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch
over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.
